How Much Does a Wedding Photographer Cost in Melbourne? (2026 Guide)
It is one of the first questions couples ask, and one of the hardest to find a straight answer to. So here is an honest guide to what wedding photography costs in Melbourne in 2026, and what actually drives the price.
The short answer. Most experienced Melbourne wedding photographers sit somewhere between $3,000 and $8,000, with collections often landing around $4,000 to $5,000 for a full day. Photography and film together generally starts higher again. My own wedding photography collections begin at $3,500.
What changes the price. There are a few things that move the number up or down.
Hours of coverage. A six-hour collection costs less than all-day coverage, simply because more of your story is told.
Photography, film, or both. Adding film is a second craft and a second set of skills, so combined collections are priced accordingly.
Experience and demand. A photographer with a strong portfolio, hundreds of weddings behind them and glowing reviews will sit at a different price than someone just starting out.
What is included. A turnaround time, the number of edited images, a private online gallery, sneak peeks and album options all add real value.
What to look for beyond the number. Price matters, but fit matters more. Look for a style you genuinely love, a calm and easy presence on the day, fast and reasonable delivery, and reviews that mention how the photographer made couples feel. These are the things you will care about long after the invoice is forgotten.
A note on value. Your photographs and film are the one part of the day you keep. The flowers fade and the food is eaten, but the way you felt is held in your gallery for the rest of your lives. It is worth investing in someone whose work moves you.
