I am Jesse Mather, a Melbourne wedding photographer and videographer, and I cover both the photo and the film for your day myself. On a sprawling estate like this, with so much ground and so many beautiful pockets, having one calm person who knows the timeline and the light means we use the place properly. Why I love shooting at Mount Macedon Winery

The scale is the gift here. Eighty acres of vines, gardens and farmland, with the Macedon Regional Forest on the edge and mountain views rolling away in every direction. It is rustic-luxe country at its best, and it gives me an enormous range of looks in one location, from ordered vineyard rows to wild forest edge to open grassy fields. That variety means real depth in your gallery without you ever feeling like you are being marched around.

The estate sits on the western slopes of Mount Macedon, about an hour from the city and only forty minutes or so from the airport, which makes it easy for interstate and overseas guests. It is a working winery with its own restaurant and estate wines, so the day has a genuine sense of place, and even the highland cattle make a wonderful, unexpected backdrop in the right season.

There is real flexibility in where you say your vows. You can marry out on the sun-drenched garden lawn, among the vines, in the rustic barn, or at the cellar door with its panoramic Macedon Ranges views. The receptions here happen in the cellar door, the restaurant or the barn depending on your style and numbers, and each films beautifully as the evening lights come up. But the moment I always protect in our timeline is golden hour. Because the estate sits on an elevated westerly slope, the sun setting over the vines is spectacular, and stepping out onto the deck for cocktails, or slipping away for ten minutes of portraits, gives you the frames you will treasure most.
