The Best Garden and Estate Wedding Venues Near Melbourne
As a wedding photographer, I get to see Melbourne’s most beautiful venues up close, often in their best light. If you are dreaming of a garden or estate wedding, here are a few I love, and what makes each one special to photograph.
Farm Vigano, South Morang. Sixteen acres of vines and gardens overlooking the Plenty Valley, with old-world Italian warmth. The golden-hour light across the valley is something else.
Bramleigh Estate, Warrandyte. Ten acres of lush gardens at the gateway to the Yarra Valley, just twenty minutes from the city. Romantic in every season, and especially atmospheric in winter.
Fitzroy Gardens, East Melbourne. Heritage trees and city-edge greenery for couples who want nature without leaving town. Soft, dappled light all afternoon.
Acacia Ridge. A picturesque garden setting with sweeping views, made for relaxed, light-filled celebrations.
Choosing the right one for you. When you visit a venue, picture it on your day and at your time. Where does the light fall in the afternoon? Is there shelter if it rains? Is there a quiet spot for portraits away from the crowd? These are the things that shape both the feeling of the day and the photographs you take home.
A photographer’s tip. The most photogenic venues are not always the grandest. Often they are the ones with good natural light, a little greenery and room to breathe. Trust the place that feels like you.
